NECK PAIN

Causes:

Muscle strains: Overuse - e.g. prolonged hours hunched over a desk or steering wheel often triggers muscle strains. Neck muscles, particularly those in the back of your neck, become fatigued and eventually strained. When you overuse your neck muscles repeatedly, chronic pain can develop. Even minor things such as reading in bed or grinding your teeth can strain your neck muscles.

Arthritis : Just like all the other joints in your body, your neck joints tend to deteriorate with age.

Disk disorders : As you age, the cushioning disks between your vertebrae become dry, narrowing the spaces in your spinal column where the nerves emerge. The disks in your neck can also herniate. This means the inner gelatinous material of the disk protrudes through the disk's tough covering. Nearby nerves can be irritated. Other tissues and bony growths may also press on your nerves as they exit your spinal cord, inducing pain.

Injury: Rear-end collisions often result in whiplash injuries, which occur when the head is jerked forward and back, stretching the soft tissues of the neck beyond its limits.

At 3 Treasure, How Do We Treat Neck Pain?

At 3 Treasure, we work out a personalised treatment plan for each patient. During your initial consultation, the practitioner-in-charge will go through a detailed diagnosis, which will include full medical history, Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnoses(e.g. pulse, tongue, nail, facial Qi), and sometimes incorporating Naturopathic diagnoses (e.g. iridology, pH. test, multi-stick test, hammer-view, meta analysis). Your treatment program will then be designed based on our years of experience in the treatment of chronic & difficult conditions.

The short term goal of treatment is to detoxify and reduce pain & reduce the severity of the symptoms. One or more of the following effective treatments will be used to help you to relief pain, swelling, stiffness, inflammation, redness and other associated symptoms:

  • Chinese Herbal Medicine
  • Acupuncture
  • Functional Food
  • Alkaline Diet
  • Life-style Change
  • Qigong Breathing Exercises

In Chinese Medicine, neck back pain is often related to low energy in the Liver, Heart or Lung meridian. Therefore once the short term goal is achieved, the long term goal of treatment is to repair damage within the internal organs, maintain the body’s balance and to achieve an optimum level of the 3 Treasures in humans: Energy, Vitality & Spirit.
